Got a tad later start due to my ole tow vehicle not wanting to cooperate and got older son to give starter ‘attitude adjustment’,just what de doctor ordered!!!
Hit favorite stretch of T-Funky armed with Slab Daddy jigging pole(do not know what I ever did without dat fine jigging pole)and struck out in typical and reliable spot, moved a tad and started putting a few decent slabs on ice, missed huge ole perch that was so big the red throat was pale, probably well over 1.5 lb bluegill and missed huge sac au lait and a few others.
Did run into one of T-Funky’s sac au lait experts(always a good sign when ya run into afficiando like this gent-they had 10 and I ended up with 5,so I felt good about my results)and they were targeting Lake Runners while I was putting slabs on ice, just not enough for big meal and gave them and feisty Kentucky bass(caught where I almost always nab a few Kentucky bass)to older son and daughter in law.
Trouble I had was these slabs were nestled amongst thick lilly pads and they ran straight for stalks once hooked,at least the bigger ones!!!
Black and chartreuse Salter tube jigs de ticket, under slip cork set at abut 18-20 inches.
Did see quite a boat parade, thankfuly they will not be present tomorrow and know exactly where to start jigging!!!
Did assist fellow boater who ran outta gas and did get gallon or two to get his boat started but he was having difficulty getting boat on trailer and after I assisted him, asked him to stick around til my ole Lincoln fired up,which she thankfully did and we both went about our ways!!!
Headed back tomorrow, only difference is I will be much earlier and I did catch and release at least 5 smallish bass!!
Think fish that were showing up on depthfinder were perch, they were ridiculously thick!!!
