Montage International and CrossHarbor Capital Partners LLC announced the groundbreaking of Montage Big Sky, which is set to open in 2021. Designed by Hart Howerton, Brayton Hughes and EDG of San Francisco, Montage Big Sky will be the first ultra-luxury resort in the Big Sky, Montana market. Less than one hour from the Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport and only 45-minutes from Yellowstone National Park, Montage Big Sky will serve as the year-round basecamp for travelers to the Greater Yellowstone area.

“We are proud to announce the addition of Montage Big Sky to the Montage Hotels & Resorts collection,” said Alan J. Fuerstman, founder, chairman and CEO of Montage International. “The stunning natural beauty of Big Sky and ease of access to a world-class array of outdoor recreation makes this an extraordinary destination. With our partners at CrossHarbor, we are eager to bring an elevated, welcoming resort experience to guests and residents of this remarkable community.”

Centrally located within Big Sky’s 3,530-acre Spanish Peaks enclave, Montage Big Sky will feature a mountain modern design with aesthetics inspired by the natural setting and a timeless palette of materials including regional woods and stones. The $400 million resort will feature 150 guestrooms and suites and 39 Montage Residences. Resort amenities include a three-meal restaurant, lobby bar and lounge, market, pub and recreation room with bowling alley, indoor lap pool, family swimming pool, fitness center, signature Spa Montage, ski lockers and skier services, and 12,870 sq. ft. of some of the finest meeting and event space in the greater Rocky Mountain region. The resort will also include Montage’s signature, immersive children’s program, Paintbox.

Notably, Montage Big Sky will have unparalleled proximity to outdoor amenities offering ski-in, ski-out access to Big Sky Resort’s 5,800 skiable acres (the second largest ski resort in the United States by acreage) and access to Spanish Peaks Mountain Club’s 18-hole Tom Weiskopf-designed golf course, which is located just steps from the resort. Hiking, mountain biking, Nordic skiing and snowshoeing trails abound, with three world-renowned fly-fishing rivers passing through the Big Sky region. The accommodations of Montage Big Sky will create a mountain paradise for luxury adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts visiting Montana and Yellowstone National Park.

“CrossHarbor invests in partnerships as much as it does markets, and we are thrilled to partner with Montage Hotels & Resorts in Big Sky. Announcement of the hotel comes after years of meticulous planning and design and represents a key milestone in our broader plan to thoughtfully develop Big Sky into the world’s pre-eminent mountain destination. The Montage will be the centerpiece of the thriving Spanish Peaks community and will also be a major generator of jobs and economic activity for all of Big Sky. With its A+ location, ski and golf access, first-class residential and hospitality spaces, and exceptional amenity offerings, it will bring an unparalleled luxury experience to this region,” said Sam Byrne, Managing Partner and Co-founder of Boston-based CrossHarbor Capital Partners LLC.
